Adrien Rabiot has officially agreed to join Roberto De Zerbi’s Olympique Marseille, having previously spoken to Milan, Manchester United, and Newcastle United.

The midfielder has been without a contract since June 30, when his agreement with Juventus expired, and he has been in negotiations with several clubs this summer.

However, they were always put off by his salary demands, which were rumored to be €10m per season net, plus a €15m signing-on bonus and commission for his mother and agent Veronique.

Rabiot set to join De Zerbi

Multiple sources, including Fabrizio Romano, RMC Sport, and L’Equipe, reported yesterday night that Rabiot is in advanced discussions for a return to Ligue 1 with Olympique Marseille. They are optimistic that an agreement can be finalized within the next 48 hours.

It was indeed even faster than that because this evening, Olympique Marseille released a statement confirming they had agreed on personal terms and would sign Rabiot pending a medical.

This would mean working with Italian coach De Zerbi, who is in the process of constructing a completely new team.

It is believed to be a two-year contract for the 29-year-old, who has 157 Serie A appearances under his belt and 163 in Ligue 1.
