Issa Sy, a referee from Senegal, has been appointed to officiate the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-final match between Nigeria and Angola.

SportXparte understands that Sy will be joined by his fellow countrymen Djibril Camara and Nouha Bangoura, who will serve as assistant referees 1 and 2, respectively.

The fourth official for the match will be Abdel Aziz Bouh, an official from Mauritania.

The quarter-final match, which will be played at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on Friday, February 2, between Nigeria and Angola, is a rare event.

One of the most notable meetings between the two teams was when the Palancas Negras held the Super Eagles to a 1-1 draw in Kano, securing their qualification for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
