Arsenal is looking to strengthen their defensive areas this summer and have shown interest in signing Bologna and Italy center-back, Riccardo Calafiori.

Arsenal has not made a formal approach for Caliori, who is one of several players being by North London.

Riccardo Calafiori played every minute of the Euro 2024 group stages for Italy but was suspended for the Azzurri’s round of 16 defeat to Switzerland.

The defender’s impressive displays in Germany were a bright spot in the holders’ disappointing exit from the competition.

Additionally, Calafiori played a crucial role in guiding his club, Bologna, to qualify for next season’s Champions League for the first time, as they finished fifth-place finish in Serie A.

The former Roma player still has three years remaining on his contract withologna.

Now Bologna technical director Giovanni Sartori provided an update on Calafiori’s future, telling Calciomercato “We took him 12 months ago so we’ll see what happens in the market but in our heads, there is the will to keep him.

“We will try to keep him but if important offers arrive we will have to consider them. I don’t think he will go to Juventus, he will probably go to a different market.”
