Arsenal: Takehiro Tomiyasu Agrees Contract Extension With The Gunners
Reports emerging revealed that Takehiro Tomiyasu has extended his stay at Arsenal.
SportXparte reports that this news put an end to the transfer speculations as the Gunners secured the talented Japanese star with a new long-term contract.
According to famous transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, it is imminent that an official announcement will be made regarding Tomiyasu’s new deal.
It is evident that both the club and head coach Mikel Arteta have always been keen on retaining the services of the Japan international, as there were never any internal discussions about his potential departure.
The report further states that everything is in place for the announcement of Tomiyasu’s contract extension, which is expected to happen soon.
Despite receiving interest from Italian teams over the past few months, Tomiyasu has chosen to accept the terms offered by Arsenal. The Gunners have made it clear to any interested parties that there is absolutely no chance of him leaving the club.
SportXparte recalls that the Japanese player made his move to the Premier League giants from Bologna in Serie A during the summer of 2021.
Despite facing injuries during his time in England, he has consistently performed well for the Gunners.
In December of this season, he had to sit out for several weeks due to a calf problem, and once he recovered, he went on to represent Japan in the Asian Cup. Now that Japan has been eliminated from the tournament, he will soon be back in action with Arsenal.
It was reported that Bayern Munich showed interest in signing the former Bologna full-back last summer, but Arsenal was not willing to sell him and instead planned to offer him a contract extension as a recognition of his impressive performances.
Bayern later turned their attention to Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United, but their attempt to sign him was unsuccessful, and they eventually secured the services of Sacha Boey from Galatasaray.
Considering the recent return of the Japanese international from the Asian Cup, there is a possibility that Arsenal and Arteta may allow him to have a week of rest before returning to action.
However, this decision ultimately depends on Arteta’s assessment of the player’s readiness.
Additionally, it is expected that he will soon finalize his contract with Arsenal, securing his future with the club.
