Arsenal’s Conditions For January Transfer: Will Jakub Kiwior Depart?

Arsenal has outlined specific conditions for allowing Jakub Kiwior to leave the club in January, a move that AC Milan is keen on replicating from a past Chelsea deal.

Kiwior, who joined Arsenal last January for approximately £21 million, has struggled for consistent game time this season. Starting just three times in the Premier League, predominantly in an unfamiliar left-back position, the Pole remains underutilized despite having three-and-a-half years left on his contract, extendable by an additional 12 months.

AC Milan’s interest in Kiwior has sparked discussions between the two clubs. However, Arsenal has set stringent terms for his potential departure. Firstly, they are adamant about not agreeing to a loan deal, aiming to secure funds for a replacement or other January targets, particularly a midfielder.

The Gunners also stand firm on their valuation of Kiwior, demanding not to incur a loss and insisting on a transfer fee matching the £21 million they initially paid for the 23-year-old defender.

However, Milan, aiming for a similar deal to the one they struck with Chelsea for Fikayo Tomori in 2021, prefers a loan arrangement with an option to purchase at the season’s end. Tomori’s successful loan eventually led to a permanent move worth up to £30 million for the English talent.

The recent uncertainty expressed by Arsenal manager Arteta regarding potential departures further fuels speculation about Kiwior’s future. Arteta stated that he cannot guarantee any player’s stay beyond the January window, opening the possibility for player exits.

As the transfer window approaches, the negotiations between Arsenal and AC Milan over Kiwior’s potential move intensify, with both clubs standing their ground on the terms of the deal. The final decision regarding Kiwior’s departure will likely hinge on meeting Arsenal’s stringent conditions for any January transfer.
