Ballon d’Or 2024: Dani Carvajal Names Favourite To Win Award
Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal has picked his teammate, Vinicius Junior, as the deserving recipient of the 2024 Ballon d’Or award.
As per the Spain international, Vinicius’ outstanding performances throughout the season, despite injury setbacks, make him a strong contender for the prestigious accolade.
Sportxparte reports that Vinicius showcased his talent in 39 matches for Real Madrid during the 2023-24 season, scoring 24 goals and providing 11 assists for the team.
His contributions were instrumental in Real Madrid’s victories in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti.
When asked about his top choice for the Ballon d’Or this year, Carvajal expressed his support for Vinicius during a chart with MARCA.
“Ballon d’Or? The one I see with the most options is Vinicius. He was injured for three month but this didn’t stop him from scoring many goals and be decisive in the Champions League and La Liga.
“He and Bellingham may be the ones who can win,” the Real Madrid right-back said.
While many predictions have been made concerning the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, Vinicius Junior has been rated well based on his current form and contribution to his club.
Vinicius Jr played a significant role for Real Madrid in their La Liga and Champions League double.
Jude Bellingham, another Real Madrid player, has been impressive for the Spanish giants, and there are high hopes for a potential role in Euro 2024 impact with England keeping him in the running.
Kylian Mbappé of PSG is another hopeful for the Ballon d’Or award.
Despite a strong season with PSG, his lack of Champions League glory weakens his position slightly. A potential transfer to Real Madrid and Euro 2024 performance could change things.
Other players to watch in the Ballon d’Or race include Erling Haaland (Manchester City) and Harry Kane (Bayern Munich).
It’s important to remember that the Euros this summer could significantly influence the final outcome.
A strong performance by a player like Mbappé or Bellingham with France or England could tip the scales.
