Barcelona Misses Out On Federico Chiesa As Liverpool Agrees Deal
Barcelona’s pursuit of left-wing targets has seen them go from Nico Williams to Rafael Leão, and most recently Federico Chiesa.
However, it appears they may need to either stick with their current squad or explore other options, as Chiesa has reportedly agreed to join Liverpool.
The 26-year-old has been given the green light for a four-year contract, and Fabrizio Romano now reports that Juventus and Liverpool have reached an agreement on a deal for him. Chiesa will move to Anfield for €13m plus add-ons and is expected on Merseyside later on Wednesday.
Chiesa’s contract expires next summer, prompting the Bianconeri to seek a transfer fee this year. Reports suggest that the Italian winger will earn approximately €4-5 million annually.
With only two and a half days left in the transfer and no clear leads, it appears that the Blaugrana are on track to miss out on one of their key targets.
In addition, Barcelona needs to secure income from a new sponsorship deal with Nike to be able to spend any more money. Hansi Flick does have Ansu Fati, Raphinha, Pau Victor, Ferran Torres, and Dani Olmo as options on the left side.
