Barcelona Moves To Permanently Sign Manchester City Star Player

The director of Spanish football club Barcelona, Deco, has officially stated that the club is keen on securing Joao Cancelo on a permanent basis.

The decision to bring Cancelo, 29, to the Catalan giants on a season-long loan from Manchester City was considered a smart move.

However, it is known that the circumstances surrounding the Portugal international’s transfer were influenced by a disagreement with Pep Guardiola, making a return to the Etihad unlikely.

Confirming previous speculations, Deco, who recently discussed the long-term plans for both Cancelo and Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, who is also on loan, has now revealed the club’s intentions to sign both players permanently.

“Cancelo is doing very well. Felix started very well, too, and he brought us very important points. It will depend on many factors,” renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano quoted Deco saying.

“We will try to sign both of them,” he added.

It will be a challenging task to secure signatures from both players as Manchester City and Atletico Madrid will find it difficult to accept the terms at which they currently perform, SportXparte reports.

However, considering that neither player seems to have a future at their respective clubs, it appears that negotiating their transfers is the only viable option for both parties.

In particular, Cancelo would be an excellent addition for any manager who takes over from Xavi at the end of the season.

Despite his disagreements with Guardiola, the 29-year-old undeniably stands as one of Europe’s finest full-backs, as evidenced by his impressive collection of three Premier League titles.

During his time at the Nou Camp, Cancelo, whose contract with City runs until 2027, has showcased his abilities by scoring three goals and providing three assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.
