Players across clubs have been showing their prowess in the ongoing UEFA Champions League, with some of them competing for top goal scorers of the tournament.
In recent matches, we saw amazing performances from Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappé, and_ Erling Haaland, who scored crucial goals in the second legs of the round of 16 matches.
They are now leading the top scorer rankings in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League, competing for the Golden Boot award.
Kane and_ Mbappé both had four goals before the second leg and_ managed to score twice, moving them to the top spot. Haaland’ also joined them with six goals after scoring against Copenhagen.
In addition to these stars, Julián Álvarez & Galeno also impressed by adding to their goal tallies in their respective games. Atlético’s Morata & Griezmann contributed five goals each to help their team advance to the knockout phase. However, despite Højlund’s five goals, Manchester United couldn’t progress beyond the group stage.

Sportxparte reports that the Golden Boot, initially introduced by UEFA in 1967/68, has been awarded by the European Sports Media (ESM) since 1997.
In the past, two players from the Bundesliga, both from Bayern, have received this prestigious accolade: Gerd Müller in 1969/70 and_ 1971/72, and_ Robert Lewandowski in 2020/21 and_ 2021/22.
Currently, Harry Kane is on track to achieve the same feat this season, with an impressive average of scoring a goal every 75 minutes in Germany’s top league. The top 10 list also includes Serhou Guirassy, a forward from VfB Stuttgart, who has scored 20 goals, and’ Loïs Openda, an attacker from Leipzig, with 17 goals.
The previous year’s winner was Haaland, a former Borussia Dortmund forward, who netted an impressive 36 goals for Manchester City.
