Chelsea have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to sign Portuguese forward, Joao Felix, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are set to finalize yet another significant and controversial transfer. Chelsea has reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid for Portuguese forward, Joao Felix.

The 24-year-old previously spent the second half of the 2022/23 season on loan at Stamford Bridge, where they struggled to make a lasting impression.

Despite this, Chelsea was eager to secure him permanently, but the move was blocked by then-coach Mauricio Pochettino.

It has been years since Felix last consistently performed at an elite level, even failing to have a significant impact at his ‘dream club’ Barcelona last season, so Chelsea fans are right to be skeptical about his impending arrival.

Unfortunately for those opposed to it, the transfer is set to go through barring another late collapse.

Chelsea reaches agreement

As mentioned, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that an agreement has been reached between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

Felix is set to sign a six-year contract with an additional year. The exact amount of the transfer fee has not yet been disclosed.

The player is enthusiastic about the transfer, and Chelsea shares the sentiment as this deal will finally be their ongoing situation with Conor Gallagher. The fan favorite has been stuck in transfer limbo for over a week due to the Blues’ signing of Samu Omorodion falling through.

Gallagher had already completed his medical at Atletico Madrid, signed his contract and the club even posted a picture of him on their social media accounts.

He eventually had to return to England, however, and he has been training with the rest of Chelsea’s outcasts away from first-team facilities.

Chelsea’s signing of Felix would enable Gallagher to finally finalize his transfer to Atletico, a move that the Blues’ hierarchy appears to be compelling him to undertake. Additionally, the club is also looking to offload Trevoh Chalobah, Armando Broja, Ben Chilwell, and Raheem Sterling.
