In a fiery encounter during Tottenham’s 4-1 win against Newcastle, tensions flared between Newcastle striker Callum Wilson and Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The clash unfolded when Vicario reacted intensely after thwarting a header from Wilson towards the end of the match, prompting Wilson to condemn what he deemed as a lack of respect.

Wilson expressed his dismay, stating, “There’s a way to win, isn’t there?” .

The striker, who returned to the pitch as a substitute after a month-long hiatus due to a hamstring injury, orchestrated Joelinton’s stoppage-time goal before facing Vicario’s save moments before the final whistle.

Taking to Instagram in response to Wilson’s comments, Vicario defended himself, saying, “Respect is given – to everyone that respects me.”
Wilson’s discontent extended beyond this incident, referencing Everton’s recent win where their goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, engaged in what he perceived as unserious behavior.

“The goalkeeper, Vicario starts pulling faces and messing around, and it’s just a lack of respect, I thought,” said Wilson.

He concluded by asserting that he voiced his concerns and aims to move forward from the incident.

This encounter marked Newcastle’s second consecutive defeat following their 3-0 loss to Everton just days prior. Despite the on-field clashes, Wilson emphasized the need to progress beyond the incident, highlighting a desire for maturity and moving forward in a composed manner.
