Liverpool secured a crucial 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield. Despite a courageous attempt at a comeback by the visitors, Liverpool’s dominance at home against Spurs continued, with just two defeats from 32 Premier League encounters between the two sides at Anfield.

The match started with both teams eager to make amends for recent disappointments. Tottenham showed early promise, but their defensive vulnerabilities were quickly exposed as Mohamed Salah rattled the crossbar and tested Spurs’ goalkeeper, Guglielmo Vicario, with a series of attempts. Salah, making a return to the starting lineup, wasted no time in making an impact, heading home a well-delivered cross from Cody Gakpo to open the scoring in the 16th minute.

Liverpool continued to maintain their dominance, with Andrew Robertson extending their lead by pouncing on a rebound from Salah’s shot to score his second goal in back-to-back games having previously scored just one goal all season. The Reds looked in control, with Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold also threatening the Spur’s defense with their attacking strength.

The second half saw Liverpool further extend their lead, as Gakpo rose high to head in his 15th goal of the season from a Harvey Elliott cross. Elliott himself added to the tally with a sublime curling strike into the top corner, displaying his growing influence in the Liverpool midfield. Despite a late re-emergence from Spurs, with Richarlison pulled a goal back by neatly turning the ball home from Johnson’s cross in the 72nd minute, and he selflessly laid the ball off for Heung-min Son to score five minutes later and cause slight doubts, Liverpool held on to secure their first win in three matches.
