Lamine Yamal’s contributions helped Spain advance to the knockout stages of Euro 2024 smoothly.

Despite his success on the field, the Barcelona winger emphasized that he has also prioritized his education by announcing his passing of secondary education exams.

Yamal, who broke into the Barcelona and Spain starting lineups this season, made history as the youngest player to feature in a European Championship match when Spain defeated Croatia in their group stage opener earlier this month.

The teenager has been putting in the hard work both on and off the pitch.

“I passed the exams and I have the ESO title now,” Yamal told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

“The last grades I’ve seen? If I’m honest, I saw them on my phone and it said I had passed so I just closed the app, called my mum, and told her.

I study on my own, but they make some jokes like ‘Go and study now.’ We have a lot of free time and when I am in my room with nothing to do, I grab the iPad and do some homework. And when Nico [Williams] and Fermín [López] call me to play PlayStation, I go downstairs with them.”

Spain is one of the favorites after achieving a perfect record in the group stage, being the only team to win all three of their matches. They secured impressive victories against defending champions Italy and Croatia.

They play Georgia in round of 16 and may face hosts Germany in the quarter-finals.

“Everything we’ve done in the group stage will be worthless if they knock us out on Sunday. We’ve already played against them (in the qualifiers), but we know it won’t be the same game,” Yamal added.

As Spain aims for a record fourth Euros title, Yamal will be wishing for a successful tournament, especially since his 17th birthday coincides with the eve of the final match.
