Premier League side, Chelsea, has confirmed the signing of a Fulham defender, Tosin Adarabioyo, on a free transfer.

Sportxparte reports that Adarabioyo, 26, agreed to a four-year contract with the Blues and will officially become a Chelsea player on July 1, following the expiration of his contract with Fulham.

The former Manchester City defender turned down a contract extension at Fulham in order to pursue his ambition of playing in Europe, as Chelsea secured a spot in the upcoming Europa Conference League.

“Chelsea is a huge club and this is a full-circle moment for me. I was born three miles away from Stamford Bridge and made my professional debut there,” Tosin told the club’s official website.

“I’m very excited and looking forward to helping push the club in the direction we want to go.”

Tosin is now the first signing by Enzo Maresca, the newly appointed Chelsea manager.

Having made 132 appearances, 78 of those in the Premier League for Fulham, Tosin brings valuable experience to the team.

However, this acquisition may lead to the departure of academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah, as there are reports of interest from Manchester United in signing the 24-year-old.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is also in the race to sign Benjamin Sesko and Michael Olise in an effort to disrupt Arsenal and Manchester United’s transfer plans.

Sportxparte understands that Arsenal had been considered the frontrunners for RB Leipzig’s Sesko, with manager Mikel Arteta keen on bolstering his attacking options this summer.

As per Foot Mercato, Chelsea has contacted Sesko’s representatives as they look to secure summer signings for new manager Enzo Maresca, who took over from Mauricio Pochettino at Stamford Bridge.

Reports suggest that Chelsea are in discussions with RB Leipzig to thwart Arsenal’s pursuit, reminiscent of their hijacking of Mykhailo Mudryk’s transfer in January 2023.
