Fulham are close to completing the signing of Burnley midfielder, Sander Berge.

The West London club has agreed to pay a fee worth £20 million plus £5m in potential add-ons.

The 26-year-old and his agent, Morten Wivestad, are traveling to London for a medical on Tuesday before finalizing his move to Craven Cottage. Personal terms with the player are already in place.

He is set to become Fulham’s fourth signing of the summer, joining Ryan Sessegnon, Jorge Cuenca, and Emile Smith Rowe, who have already arrived.

Berge would strengthen Marco Silva’s midfield options following the expiration of Willian’s contract and João Palhinha’s transfer to Bayern Munich.

Sander Berge’s career path

The Norwegian, who has won 46 caps for his country, had previously been identified as a potential option for Manchester United, who remain in the market for a defensive midfielder.

He did not participate in either of Burnley’s first two matches of the Championship season under new head coach Scott Parker, who took over from Vincent Kompany earlier this summer.

Berge made 37 appearances last term as Burnley were relegated from the Premier League. He joined the Turf Moor club from Sheffield United last summer, signing a four-year contract at the club ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

He arrived in English football from Belgian side Genk in 2020 and went on to make 109 appearances for the Blades.
