Pep Guardiola has confirmed that defenders John Stones and Kyle Walker will be sidelined due to injuries ahead of the city’s crucial Premier League match against Arsenal this weekend.

“Kyle more tougher than John but will be out I don’t know how many games,” said Guardiola regarding the injuries to Stones and Walker.

Stones, who had to be withdrawn early in England’s recent friendly against Belgium, is dealing with a hip problem, while Walker, the team captain, was forced off during England’s match against Brazil.

Despite the defensive setbacks, Guardiola provided a positive update on goalkeeper Ederson, mentioning that he is “much, much better” after recovering from an issue picked up in a previous game. Additionally, defender Manuel Akanji is available for selection after picking up a knock while on international duty with Switzerland.

“Kevin is such an important player. It has been a tough season for him with injuries, and being out for a long time. He trained well yesterday so we will see what we’re going to do in the next days,” Guardiola added regarding Kevin De Bruyne’s absence in the recent match against Newcastle.

Reflecting on the season so far, Guardiola expressed satisfaction with City’s performance across multiple competitions, including their pursuit of a treble. He acknowledged the challenges ahead, especially as they approach the final stretch of the Premier League campaign.

“Now it’s the last 10 games of the Premier League, we start an important time. We play the leaders of the Premier League and I’m sure the people (City’s fans) will give us what we need to perform at our best,” Guardiola commented on the upcoming crucial fixtures.
