Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has hailed his counterpart at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, following a heartbreaking announcement from the German professional manager on Friday.

SportXparte reported earlier that Klopp announced he would be departing Liverpool at the end of the season.

The news on Friday came as a shock to Liverpool fans and sports enthusiasts across the globe.

After spending nine years at Anfield, Klopp announced on Friday that he has decided to step down due to a lack of energy required to perform at his best.

It was evident that his heartfelt and sincere message to the club’s supporters was an emotional decision for him, but he believed it was important to be honest about his reasons for leaving.

Predictably, discussions about his potential successor have dominated social media conversations and kept headline writers busy throughout the night.

Many managers who have faced Klopp in the past have paid tribute to him, including Pep Guardiola, who even playfully teased the German.

“I am a little bit [shocked],” Guardiola said after Man City’s FA Cup win at Tottenham.

The National quoted Guardiola saying Klopp “Is an absolutely incredible manager, and I know I don’t know him closely, but he’s an incredible person as well.

“I had a feeling that he’s leaving part of us too at Man City as Liverpool have been our biggest rival in his years. Personally, he has been my biggest rival from when he was at Dortmund and I was at Bayern Munich

“He will be missed. Personally, I will miss him. I am pleased because, without him, I will sleep a little bit better the night before we play against Liverpool! But I wish him all the best. He doesn’t admit it but he will be back.

“All the managers will [feel tired] when you’ve done many years, I feel it completely. I felt it at Barcelona so I understand it completely.”

SportXparte reports that the competition between Liverpool and City in recent seasons has been a delightful spectacle, as their matches frequently showcase moments of football brilliance.
