Months after leaving Liverpool, Jordan Henderson, has reportedly come to a preliminary agreement with Ajax after successfully persuading Al-Ettifaq to end his contract.

Sportxparte recalls that Henderson recently transferred to Al-Ettifaq for £12 million ($15m) in the summer of 2023.

The player, however, is now determined to leave the Middle East.

It is believed that his decision is influenced by his wife, as the family has struggled to adjust to their new environment.

A publication by The Atheltic claimed that Henderson has managed to negotiate his way out of Al-Ettifaq, and his representatives are now working with the club to officially terminate his three-year contract.

Initially, the Saudi Pro League side was reluctant to let him go and rejected his demands.

However, they have now softened their stance and granted Henderson permission for a permanent transfer.

The midfielder is already en route to England and, once he completes the necessary paperwork and medical procedures, he will be unveiled as a new player for Ajax.

Henderson’s performance in the Saudi Pro League has been lackluster, despite providing four assists in his 17 appearances under former Liverpool team-mate, Steven Gerrard.

Unfortunately, Al-Ettifaq’s results have taken a downturn, leaving them in eighth place with just 25 points from 19 matches.

Now, as Henderson joins Ajax in Amsterdam, he will be expected to make an immediate impact.

Ajax has struggled throughout the current campaign, experiencing a managerial change in October when Maurice Steijn was dismissed after just 11 games. Currently, they find themselves second from the bottom in the Eredivisie, having only secured five points from their initial seven fixtures.
