Jurgen Klopp To Leave Liverpool End Of Season
Jurgen Klopp is finally leaving Liverpool after a nine-year stretch at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp announced on Friday (today) that he is ending his stay at Anfield as Liverpool manager.
Emotional Klopp expressed his gratitude for the love he has received at Liverpool since he joined the club in 2015.
Though he acknowledged the news of his departure would come to many as shocking and surprise, Klopp maintained that it was the right decision for him to make after several considerations.
The German professional football manager also acknowledged that he is losing the energy to keep on with the tasks at Anfield.
“I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment when you hear it for the first time,” Klopp said in an interview on Friday.
He added: ”I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take. It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now. Obviously, I knew already for longer that I would have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.”
Speaking further on why he is leaving, the 56-year-old German coach said, ”But in the end, I have to because one thing I am really convinced of [is] if you have to make a decision like that, it is better you do it slightly early than slightly too late. Too late would have been absolutely the worst thing to happen [if], I don’t know, next season in September I realised, ‘Oh my God, that’s it – I cannot do it anymore’ and then we are in the middle of a season and everything.”
In addition to Jurgen Klopp, both Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, assistant managers, along with development coach Vitor Matos, will depart from Liverpool at the conclusion of the season.
Lijnders, driven by his aspirations to pursue a career in management, has made this decision.
