Leeds Sets To Sign Liverpool Defender

Leeds United is considering the possibility of signing Liverpool defender Calvin Ramsay on loan during the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail’s print edition on Thursday,  the 20-year-old is one of the right-back options that Leeds is currently monitoring.

It could be recalled that Liverpool signed Ramsay, who is an international player for Scotland, in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £6.5 million.

However, he was recently recalled from his loan spell at Preston North End, a Championship side.

Leeds United is currently facing a significant shortage of options at right-back, especially after Djed Spence returned to Tottenham and Luke Ayling joined Middlesbrough. This has left them in need of additional depth in that position.

Ramsay, who only made two appearances during his loan spell at Preston due to injuries, is likely eager to secure more regular playing time through a potential loan move. This would allow him to gain valuable experience and consistency.

Ramsay’s previous displays for Aberdeen, which led to him receiving the SFWA Young Player of the Year accolade, suggest that he has the potential to be a dependable choice for Leeds United.

With his tender age of only 20, there is immense potential for the Scotsman to excel, provided he is given regular playing time to enhance his progress.
