Leicester City‘s manager, Enzo Maresca, shed light on the absence of Kelechi Iheanacho from the squad during Saturday’s league encounter against Plymouth Argyle, where the Foxes secured a commanding 4-0 victory, maintaining their lead atop the Championship standings.

The Foxes demonstrated their dominance on home turf with Stephy Mavididi’s impressive brace, complemented by goals from Patson Daka and Wilfred Ndidi, securing another three points for Maresca’s men.

However, the manager had to navigate the game without several key players, including Iheanacho, Jamie Vardy, and Kasey McAteer.

Addressing the absence of these players, Maresca provided clarity on their situations. “Kel (Kelechi Iheanacho) is ill,” he disclosed in a statement on lcfc.com.

Reflecting on his team’s commanding performance, the 43-year-old Italian expressed his satisfaction.  Acknowledging the challenges faced during the match, Maresca emphasized the team’s overall deserving performance.

Iheanacho, a crucial player for Leicester City, has made 20 appearances across all competitions, netting six goals and contributing two assists, showcasing his significance within the team setup. As the Foxes navigate their campaign, Maresca’s guidance and the return of key players will be pivotal in maintaining their dominant position in the Championship.
