Osimhen To Arsenal? Arteta’s Transfer List As January Window Closes
Arsenal’s transfer plans are making headlines, with reports suggesting that the club is targeting two new midfielders.
However, there has been a twist in their search for a new striker, as Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is rumoured to be leaving Napoli.
SportXparte reports that Gunners fans may be disappointed that no new signings are expected in the January transfer window, but it seems that Mikel Arteta is willing to wait for a summer spending spree.
Arsenal made significant moves in the previous summer, securing the services of players like Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber.
The club is expected to be active again in the upcoming summer window, with Arteta keeping an eye on midfielders from La Liga and the Championship.
However, a new striker is also a priority for the Premier League club.
Arsenal Interested In Zubimendi
According to the Mirror, Martin Zubimendi, the talented midfielder from Real Sociedad, has been linked with a move to Arsenal.
However, it is rumoured that Zubimendi had turned down Arsenal’s interest last summer and chose to remain in San Sebastian.
Nevertheless, the football landscape changes rapidly, and Zubimendi, who is 24 years old, continues to be a player that Arteta is eager to acquire.
In fact, Arteta is so determined to sign him that he is prepared to make a second attempt at securing Zubimendi’s services once the current season concludes.
According to reports from Germany, Arsenal now find themselves in the leading position to win the race for the Spanish midfielder.
While Bayern Munich, the reigning champions of the Bundesliga, also hold an interest in Zubimendi, it appears that Arsenal are the frontrunners to trigger his £53m release clause.
It is not only Arsenal who recognize the potential in Zubimendi, as other European powerhouses have also expressed admiration for his abilities. However, it seems that the Gunners are the most likely to secure his signature.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall On Arteta’s Transfer List
In addition to Zubimendi, Arsenal has shown interest in another midfielder, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.
Arteta regards him highly as a talented player.
However, there are several Premier League teams vying for his signature, including Brighton who are currently in talks with Leicester.
Leicester is reportedly demanding a minimum of £30m for Dewsbury-Hall’s transfer.
If Arsenal wants to pursue their interest, they will not only have to compete with Brighton but also with Fulham.
Napoli’s Osimhen On The move
Victor Osimhen, a highly sought-after striker in Africa, has attracted interest from several clubs, including Arsenal, who are in need of a new leading man.
Although Arteta has stated that there will be no new striker this month, it is expected that the situation will change in the summer.
Osimhen, who currently plays for Napoli, has been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid, among others.
Recently, the president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, officially announced that the Nigerian international will depart from the club at the conclusion of the current season.
“This was already known since this summer, our negotiations were friendly, otherwise it would not have been so long,” he explained.
“We knew he would go to Real Madrid, PSG or a top English club.”
