Pep Guardiola Named Premier League Manager Of The Year
Pep Guardiola, who has guided Manchester City to an unprecedented four consecutive Premier League titles, has been awarded the Premier League Manager of the Season for the fifth time. He outperformed Mikel Arteta, Jurgen Klopp, Unai Emery, and Andoni Iraola to secure the accolade.
Under Guardiola, Manchester City secured an unparalleled fourth consecutive Premier League title, finishing above Arsenal by two points. With this achievement, Manchester City has now surpassed Manchester United to become the only team to win the Premier League four times consecutively.
After winning the prize, Guardiola said: “I am so proud to be the manager of this group of players and to work alongside the brilliant coaches and support staff every day. Winning four titles in a row is one of the proudest achievements of my career. This is the toughest league in the world and our competitors have played some incredible football.”
This marks the sixth league title that Manchester City has won under Guardiola. Following Sunday’s victory against West Ham, Guardiola hinted at uncertainty regarding his future with Man City, especially with just one year remaining on his current contract.
“The reality is I’m closer to leaving than to staying,” the City manager told Sky Sports.
“It’s eight years, will be nine. Right now my feeling is I want to stay next season. We talked with the club, we have time to talk next season because I have to see the players as well if they follow me, they follow us. I want to stay next season. During the season, we will talk. But after eight, nine years…”
Pep Guardiola has spent eight years in the Premier League, the longest time at any club in his managerial career.
During this time, he has won every domestic and international trophy available. Another opportunity to add to their cabinet awaits Guardiola and Manchester City as they face Manchester United in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
