Saudi Arabia Club Moves To Sign Nigerian Star Player, Victor Osimhen
Al Ahli, a club in the Saudi Arabia Pro League, is reportedly prepared to activate Victor Osimhen‘s release clause.
Reports from an Italian news source, Il Mattino via Calcio Napoli, suggest that Al Ahli has not yet persuaded the Nigerian superstar player to agree to the transfer.
Osimhen’s release clause is believed to be around €120-£130m.
Despite this interest, the 25-year-old had turned down a move to another Saudi club, Al Hilal, last year.
The Nigerian international is anticipated to depart from Napoli during the upcoming summer transfer window.
Throughout the transfer speculation, Osimhen has been consistently linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.
In the 2023/24 season, Osimhen was Serie A’s top scorer with a whopping 26 goals, a record for an African player in the league.
This firepower helped Napoli clinch their first Serie A title in 33 years.
Osimhen’s performances were widely recognized. He bagged the Serie A Best Striker award and was even named Serie A Footballer of the Year, solidifying his status as the league’s MVP.
Overall, Osimhen has become Napoli’s 11th-highest scorer with 72 goals in just 122 games. Even more impressive, his goal-to-game ratio is the third-best in Napoli’s history, surpassing legends like Maradona.
Alongside teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Osimhen formed a deadly attacking partnership. Together, they were directly involved in over half of Napoli’s Serie A goals in the title-winning season.
Osimhen’s pace, power, and finishing ability have made him a nightmare for defenders and a key factor in Napoli’s recent success.
