Cesc Fabregas has been selected to serve as the head coach of Como, following his tenure as the team’s assistant and interim coach during their successful promotion to Serie A in the previous season.

Sportxparte reports that the club made the announcement in a statement issued on Friday.

Fabregas concluded his professional football career with Como in 2023, transitioning into a role as an assistant coach. ‘

The former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea player assumed the interim coaching position after the departure of the head coach, Moreno Longo.

Under Fabregas’ leadership, Como achieved a remarkable rise from the seventh to the third position in Serie B, securing automatic promotion upon finishing as the league’s second-place team.

However, the club has now announced that Roberts will be stepping down from his role as head coach to assume the position of Como’s head of development, as per the club’s statement.

“I am so happy to be starting this season as head coach and I thank the ownership group for trusting me with this position,” Fabregas said.

“It’s going to be a tough and important season but myself and the rest of the coaching staff are ready and we all believe.”
