German football giants, Bayern Munich, has announced it will be parting ways with their manager, Thomas Tuchel, at the conclusion of the current season.

Both parties engaged in “fair and positive discussions” and reached an agreement, as reported by Sky.

Sportxparte understands that the club has also officially announced this development on their website.

In a statement, Bayern Munich revealed that the working relationship, originally intended to continue until June 30, 2025, will now conclude on June 30, 2024, following a constructive conversation between CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and Thomas Tuchel.

The statement read: “In an open, good conversation, we came to the decision to mutually end our collaboration in the summer. Our goal is to carry out a sporting realignment with a new coach for the 2024/25 season.

“Until then, every individual in the club is expressly challenged to achieve the maximum possible in the Champions League and the Bundesliga. I also explicitly hold the team responsible.

“Especially in the Champions League, we are convinced that after the 0-1 defeat in the first leg at Lazio Rome, we will advance to the quarterfinals in the second leg in our fully occupied Allianz Arena with our fans behind us.”

Tuchel has also confirmed the development stating that, “They will end our collaboration after this season. Until then, I and my coaching team will, of course, continue to do everything we can to ensure maximum success.”

It could be recalled that Tuchel assumed the position of head coach for FC Bayern in March 2023.

He took over from Julian Nagelsmann. Shortly thereafter, he led the team to victory in the Bundesliga.

However, due to a string of losses to Leverkusen and Bochum in the Bundesliga, Tuchel’s contract is set to be terminated one year earlier than planned. The team’s performance has suffered this season, with Bayern currently trailing Leverkusen by eight points after 22 games.

Furthermore, Bayern faced an early exit from the DFB-Pokal in the second round and now faces a challenging task in the Champions League quarterfinals after losing the first leg against Lazio.

As a result, the Bundesliga champions have reportedly begun their search for a new coach. Xabi Alonso, the coach of Bayer Leverkusen, and Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, are among the top contenders for the position.
