Tottenham has reached an agreement to extend Timo Werner’s loan from RB Leipzig until the conclusion of the upcoming season.

The German forward, who originally joined Spurs temporarily from the Bundesliga club in January, featured in 14 matches across all competitions and found the back of the net twice.

Initially, Tottenham had the opportunity to secure the 28-year-old permanently for £15m this summer. However, the revised deal now includes an £8.5m option to purchase.

Timo Werner provided a valuable contribution to the Tottenham squad last season, enhancing manager Ange Postecoglou’s attacking options until a hamstring injury sidelined him for the final five Premier League matches of the campaign.

Tottenham secured a fifth-place finish and will participate in the Europa League in the upcoming season. Werner, who has scored 24 goals in 57 appearances for Germany, last represented his nation in a friendly loss to Belgium in March 2023.

He also scored 23 goals in 89 appearances during two years at Chelsea, winning the Champions League, Uefa Super Cup, and Fifa Club World Cup, before rejoining Leipzig in 2022.
