Aston Villa’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Manchester City will see the absence of their top scorer, Ollie Watkins, as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury sustained during their recent victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Additionally, midfielder Jacob Ramsey remains sidelined due to a foot injury sustained in a previous match.

In a recent statement, Villa manager Unai Emery provided an update on the players’ conditions, stating, “They will not be available tomorrow. They have small injuries. Jacob Ramsey is not getting better like he wants. We are not in a hurry with him. For tomorrow, he will not be available. With Ollie, it is more or less the same. Ollie’s injury is a small injury, with some days rest, maybe he could be available for the next match.”

Watkins, who has been a pivotal figure for Villa this season, has scored an impressive 22 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions. His absence from Wednesday’s fixture will mark the first Premier League match he has missed this season, causing a significant challenge for the team.

Meanwhile, Ramsey who has also faced injury setbacks throughout the season, has been limited to 21 appearances in all competitions. His absence has been felt since he was forced off in the first half against Luton on March 2, further complicating Villa’s midfield options.

Emery’s cautious approach to their recovery emphasizes the importance of allowing the players sufficient time to heal and regain full fitness. He mentioned that Ramsey’s progress has not been as rapid as desired, & the club is taking a patient approach to recovery.
