Despite these allegations, Paqueta decisively maintained his innocence, stating that he did not engage in any form of betting.

When asked about City’s reported interest, Paqueta emphasized his focus on the present, stating, “Out of respect for them, I have to remain focused on my work.” The outcome of the FA’s investigation threatened, to potentially influence City’s decision regarding a possible offer for the midfielder. “It’s been seven months since it happened and I’m cooperating, doing what’s in my power so that it can be resolved,” Paqueta affirmed, showing his commitment to transparency and integrity.
