2024 Paris Olympics: President Tinubu Charges Tobi Amusan, Others To Go For Gold
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has tasked the Nigerian team with the responsibility of serving as exemplary ambassadors for the nation as the 2024 Paris Olympic Games commence in France.
Tinubu’s message is contained in an official statement issued on Friday by Ajuri Ngelale, his Special Adviser.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his unwavering support for the team, highlighting the collective backing of over 200 million Nigerians.
He emphasized that the citizens are engaged in prayers and expressions of support, eagerly awaiting the team’s success.
The Nigerian delegation consists of 88 athletes, with 63 women and 25 men representing the country in 12 sports at the Paris Olympics.
This development underscores President Tinubu’s assurance that the team, embodying the spirit of boldness and courage, is supported by the President and the entire Nigerian populace, who fervently pray and cheer for their achievements.
Tinubu’s Statement
“As the Games officially opens with the ‘Parade of Nations’, President Tinubu looks forward to watching the nation’s flagbearer, Ms Tobi Amusan, the current world record holder in the 100 metres hurdles, and other athletes compete with honour and dedication on the international stage.
“The President enjoins the athletes to exhibit the resilience, courage, respect, self-control, and good sportsmanship that Nigerians are known for,” the statement reads.
President Tinubu called upon the coaching staff, support personnel, and Nigerian spectators attending the Games in Paris to uphold the nation’s honour and dignity as ambassadors.
