Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen, has expressed optimism about Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles winning 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) for the fourth time.

Sportxparte recalls that the Napoli player missed the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon because of an injury, but he is anticipated to be a key member of the Super Eagles when the competition begins in Côte d’Ivoire the following weekend.

The Super Eagles icon Augustine Eguavoen’s team won supporters over with some outstanding performances in the group stage, but without Osimhen in the lineup, Nigeria came out of Cameroon empty-handed, losing shockingly 1-0 to Tunisia in the round of 16.

The Super Eagles number nine once again showed his skill in front of goal during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, recording ten goals to emerge victorious in back-to-back qualifying.

Osimhen has praised the Super Eagles players and expressed confidence in their ability to complete the task.

“The most important thing for us now is to go to Ivory Coast and win the tournament. I believe in this group; we have a bunch of talented players to execute the job, fingers crossed, and we are going to do so well,” Osimhen said during an interview.

On July 17, 2019, during a playoff game between Tunisia and the Africa Cup of Nations, Osimhen made his debut by coming on as the tournament’s top scorer, Odion Ighalo, at the beginning of the second half.
