Spanish professional footballer, Alvaro Morata, has penned a four-year contract with AC Milan.

The 31-year-old player will play for AC Milan until June 2028, plus an option for a further season.

“AC Milan have triggered the €13m release clause from Atlético. Deal completed,” popular transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, confirmed in a post via his official X account on Friday.

Italian media outlets have reported that Milan has fulfilled Morata’s 13-million euro ($14.2 million) release clause, securing his return to the team. It has been confirmed that Morata will receive approximately 4.5 million euros per season.

Morata was an integral part of Spain’s success at the Euros, playing in every match and scoring his sole goal in the 3-0 victory over Croatia in La Roja, a performance that inspired his team’s successful campaign in Germany.

With an impressive international career, Morata has scored 36 goals in 80 appearances for his national team, showcasing his adaptability and versatility on the field.

After two successful stints with Milan’s rivals, Juventus, where he was part of the teams that won two league titles and three Italian Cups, Morata is making a dramatic return to Italy.

Morata’s illustrious career is studded with achievements, including winning the FA Cup with Chelsea and being a key player in two victorious Champions League campaigns with Real Madrid in 2014 and 2017.

Milan, who finished second in Serie A last season, 19 points behind the champions Inter Milan, is set to start the league season under the guidance of new coach Paulo Fonseca with a match against Torino on August 17.
