Arne Slot Hints At Liverpool Line Up, Style Of Play For Next Season
Arne Slot has remarked on Liverpool‘s lineup for the upcoming Premier League season as he commits to stepping into Jurgen Klopp’s shoes upon arrival.
The Dutch professional manager has confirmed to the supporters that his approach to the game will mirror Jurgen Klopp’s.
In a recent interview, Arne Slot, undeterred by the challenge of replacing Jurgen Klopp, exudes confidence in his ability to play the game in a manner that echoes his predecessor’s.
SportXparte reports that Jurgen Klopp captured the adoration of Liverpool supporters not just through his victories but also with his dynamic playing style, which made Anfield come alive.
The Reds’ new manager, Arne Slot, is also pledging to replicate this success.
“It was special what Jurgen Klopp did at this club, and what made him special was the impression he left behind, winning trophies and his playing style.
“The fans loved it. What he did for the club was more than normal. Jurgen got to know the city and the style the fans liked.
“One of the reasons they came to me was because of my playing style which is not that much different, a lot of energy and good football.
“You can look at it as big shoes to fill but it is important to have a squad with a winning culture.
“I do feel like I have a really good team, a really good squad. As a manager you want to work at a club with good players and the possibility to win things.
“I look at it as an ideal opportunity to win something,” Slot said in a recent interview.
Slot’s Appointment, Reflect On Playing Style At Feyenoord
SportXparte recalls that on June 1st, Slot was named as Klopp’s replacement at Anfield.
However, Klopp, departed from Anfield, expressing his emotional goodbyes last season.
During his departure, they called out his name, and in response, Klopp got the crowd to chant the name of the incoming manager, signalling their welcome and acceptance. Slot took this gesture positively.
Slot Speaks On His Style at Former Club
Reflecting on his time at Feyenoord, Slot said: “I was very fortunate at Feyenoord that after a few years they started singing for me.
“Now, without even winning a game, the Liverpool fans are singing for me and that is a good start.
“They sang Klopp’s name for good reason.”
Since taking over Feyenoord in 2021, Slot has led the team to victory in the Eredivisie in the 2022-23 season, during which he was also honoured as Holland’s manager of the year for a second consecutive year.
In the previous season, while finishing in second place in the league, they clinched the Dutch Cup.
Similar to Klopp, Slot prefers a style of play that is fluid, focused on attacking with the ball, and is quick to regain possession when the opposition has it.
Slot said: “I hope people see my team at Feyenoord and will say that they played with a lot of freedom.
“But when we don’t have the ball, we want to be really aggressive and people keep in their position.
“If you ask me, I would say we played in a 4-3-3.”
Slot revealed that Liverpool was among the select few teams he considered leaving Feyenoord for.
However, the 45-year-old mentioned that Liverpool chose him not solely for his impressive trophy collection but also for his unique approach to winning.
He said: “I worked at a special club in Feyenoord. I would not leave that club for many clubs.
“But when Liverpool come along, that is one I would leave Feyenoord for.
“Also when they have reasons why they wanted to take you because they like your style of play.”
