Atlético de Madrid have confirmed the signing of Villarreal striker, Alexander Sørloth.

Sørloth joins Diego Simeone’s side after a standout season where he narrowly missed out on being La Liga’s top scorer.

The Norway international finished just one goal behind Girona’s Artem Dovbyk in the race for the Pichici Award.

He has signed a four-year contract with Civitas Metropolitano after the Yellow Submarine agreed to a reported €35 million transfer.

The 28-year-old Norwegian international is a forward with great physical power thanks to his 195 cm height.

A product of the Rosenberg academy, Sørloth debuted with the first team of the Norwegian club in 2013 during a Europa League qualifying match, where he also found the back of the net. Throughout his career, he has played in several leagues including the Eredivisie, Premier League, Jupiler Pro League, and, before transitioning to La Liga with Real Sociedad.

In 2023, he transferred to Villarreal, where he had a remarkable season, netting 26 goals and providing six assists in 41 appearances.

In May 2016, the forward made his debut for the Norway national team at the age of just 20 in a match against Portugal. Since then, he has scored 18 goals and recorded seven assists in 53 appearances.

Sørloth becomes the Colchoneros’ second signing in a day after Robin Le Normand’s arrival was confirmed earlier on Saturday.
