‎Atlético Madrid has confirmed their agreement to sign Thiago Almada from Botafogo.

‎The 24-year-old midfielder spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Lyon, scoring twice in 20 appearances. He has now returned to his parent club, Botafogo, ahead of his move to Atlético Madrid.

‎Atletico have reached an agreement to sign the Argentina international permanently, subject to the player undergoing his medical and signing a contract.

‎In June 2024, Botafogo signed Thiago Almada from Atlanta United in a deal valued at $21 million, potentially rising to $30 million with additional payments, setting an MLS record.

‎Almada originally transferred to Atlanta from Vélez Sarsfield in Argentina for approximately $16 million in 2022. During his time in MLS, he was awarded the MLS Newcomer of the Year.
