Atletico Madrid Reaches Agreement With Real Sociedad To Sign Robin Le Normand
Atlet Madrid and Real Sociedad have reached an agreement for the transfer of Robin Le Normand. The Spanish international will join Los Rojiblancos following the conclusion of Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign.
The 27-year-old has been a regular for La Real for the last five seasons and has become part of the furniture in Donostia-San Sebastian, but Atletico had outlined him as one of their top targets for this summer as early as February of this year.
Fabrizio reports that they have now reached a deal with the final fee between €28m and €30m.
Robin Le Normand’s move to Atlético Madrid is all but confirmed. The defender agreed to personal terms on a long-term contract before joining the Spanish national team for the Euros.
Finalizing the transfer involved Real Sociedad and Atlético exchanging documents after extensive negotiations.
Atletico also had to reach a separate agreement with Fenerbahce to clear the way for Le Normand’s arrival.
Le Normand is expected to be a key addition to Atlético’s defense, their weakest under Diego Simeone.
This signing reflects Simeone’s desire to return to the strong defensive style that defined his earlier successes.
It remains to be seen if Simeone will stick with the three-at-the-back system, which Le Normand hasn’t played in much.
