Barcelona Has Yet to Submit An Opening Offer For Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka
Barcelona is not currently considering the signing of a new midfielder, with Hansi Flick prepared to keep faith in the options he currently has at his disposal including the recently promoted duo of Marc Casado and Marc Bernal.
If their stance were to change, their top target is said to be Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka.
Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku, Lesley Ugochukwu, and new signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall all appear to be ahead of him in the pecking order, which has sparked links of a summer exit.
Chukwuemeka is not expected to play a major role in Chelsea’s first-team squad for the 2024-25 season, which could open the door for Barcelona.
However, there are yet to be any club-to-club negotiations at this stage, as Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffside’s The Daily Briefing.
“Still, my understanding is that there is nothing concrete so far. Chelsea has not received any bid for Chukwuemeka and the situation is currently quiet. Then in the next [few] days, we will see… but at the moment there has been no offer made to Chelsea from Barca.”
Chukwuemeka has made just 27 first-team appearances for Chelsea, and his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has fallen to just €4.4 million due to his lack of game time over the past 12 months.
Chelsea’s Upcoming Summer Sales
While Chukwuemeka is unlikely to leave Chelsea for Barcelona, several current Blues stars are set to depart before the 2024 summer transfer window ends.
Conor Gallagher is poised to join Atletico Madrid, while Napoli is on acquiring Romelu Lukaku. Chelsea is eager to offload Kepa Arrizaga, and Trevoh Chalobah has been prohibited from using first-team facilities as the club want to sell him.
In addition, Armando Broja, David Datro Fofana, Djordje Petrovic, and Cesare Casadei could also leave on permanent deals.
