Barcelona has reportedly reached out to the agent of Juventus winger, Federico Chiesa, as the Catalan club looks to strengthen its attacking options in the most affordable way possible.

Chiesa has entered the final year of his contract in Turin and a renewal is not on the cards, forcing Juve’s hand if they want to avoid losing the Euro 2020 winner as a free agent next summer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fali Ramadani, Chiesa’s agent is in discussions with Barcelona officials to negotiate personal terms. After that, it will be down to the two clubs to agree a transfer fee for a move to happen.

It is suggested that leaving Serie A is the better path for Chiesa, with the options for him to stay in Italy described as being “not very concrete”.

Chiesa is not Barcelona’s primary target for a winger this summer. The club had been actively pursuing Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, but financial limitations hindered their efforts, especially as they faced challenges in registering new signing Dani Olmo.

Additionally, Liverpool’s Luis Diaz was deemed too costly, and there have also been links to Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman.

But SPORT reports that Chiesa’s contract situation has raised the possibility of signing the 26-year-old for as little as €14m (£11.9m). He might even accept a reduction on his existing €6m (£5.1m) net annual salary to move to Barcelona as long as the contract is three years in length.

Any potential move for Chiesa must align with Barcelona’s financial capabilities and La Liga regulations.

ongoing assertions throughout the summer about closing a ‘1:1’ ratio would enable the club to reinvest all of its earnings instead of the current limit of only a quarter. This situation has yet to materialize.

While Ilkay Gundogan was a key contributor last season and is content to remain at the club, he may now be sacrificed to help improve financial matters.

Additionally, Clement Lenglet is also expected to depart following his two-season loan spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
