‎Bayer Leverkusen confirmed on Monday that Erik ten Hag, formerly of Ajax and Manchester United, has been dismissed after only three official matches in charge.

‎According to Fabrizio Romano and Sky Germany, Die Werkself have decided to relieve the Dutch manager of his duties.

Ten Hag was appointed in the summer to replace Xabi Alonso, signing a two-year contract.

‎Leverkusen conceded two late goals, including a 94th-minute equaliser, after Niklas Stark’s second-half red card for Bremen.

‎Ten Hag’s only home match in charge ended in a 2-1 defeat to Hoffenheim on the opening weekend of the season, with Jarell Quansah scoring the early opener for Leverkusen before the visitors rallied.

‎Leverkusen defeated Sonnenhof Großaspach 4-0 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.

‎Ten Hag becomes the third former Manchester United manager to be sacked within a week, following Ole Gunnar Solskjær at Besiktas and José Mourinho at Fenerbahçe.

‎Die Werkself will now be on the lookout for a new head coach.
