Bournemouth Agrees Club Record Fee For Dominic Solanke’s Transfer To Tottenham

Several credible reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur is nearing the completion of a deal to sign Bournemouth striker, Dominic Solanke.

Spurs are in line to make the 26-year-old their second signing of the summer transfer window, following on from the purchase of midfielder, Archie Gray from Leeds United.

Spurs have been actively searching for attacking reinforcements throughout the summer, and head coach, Ange Postecoglou recently noted during the club’s pre-season tour that the striker is the “thinnest” part of his squad.

Solanke has emerged as Tottenham’s preferred candidate and discussions with Bournemouth have now entered an advanced stage, with personal terms not expected to be an issue.

One-cap England forward, Solanke missed Bournemouth’s friendly win over Rayo Vallecano last Sunday with a minor foot injury, which only served to heighten scrutiny over his future.

Earlier this summer, Bournemouth owner, Bill Foley, confirmed that Dominic Solanke’s contract, which runs until 2027, includes a release clause of approximately £65 million.

His expected departure would mark a club-record sale for the Cherries.

Nathan Ake’s £40m transfer to Manchester City in 2020 was Bournemouth’s previous biggest departure and while talks continue with Tottenham over the final fee, it will be more than Ake’s move.

Postecoglou has approved Spurs’ pursuit of Solanke following the best season of the 26-year-old’s career.

During the 2023-24 campaign, Solanke scored 21 goals in all competitions for Bournemouth, including 19 in the Premier League.

He also stood out for his impressive statistics and link-up play for Andoni Iraola’s side.

This expected transfer to Tottenham will give Solanke another opportunity at a top-six club after he progressed through Chelsea’s academy as a teenager before he departed for Liverpool in 2017.
