Bournemouth Target Spurs’ Brennan Johnson As Semenyo Prepares For Man City Move

‎Bournemouth have lined up Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson as a possible successor to Antoine Semenyo, who is expected to join Manchester City in a £65m move.

‎City are pushing forward in negotiations with Semenyo’s representatives and are currently leading the race to activate the Ghanaian winger’s release clause, which was added when he signed a contract extension with Bournemouth last summer.

‎City is the only club to push ahead with a move for Semenyo, the 25-year-old who has excelled in the Premier League, but rival clubs retain an interest in the player.

‎Bristol City is set to receive 20% of any profit Bournemouth makes on Semenyo, having sold him to the club for £10 million in 2023.

‎Crystal Palace also holds an interest in Brennan Johnson, and Tottenham is believed to be open to negotiations for the winger. It remains uncertain whether Spurs would prefer to sanction a permanent sale or a loan for the Wales international.

‎Johnson has struggled for game time under Thomas Frank this season and has started just one of Tottenham’s past seven matches.

‎Johnson finished last season as Spurs’ top scorer and netted the decisive goal in their Europa League triumph, securing the club’s first major trophy since 2008.

‎However, the 24-year-old has struggled to thrive under Thomas Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou in June.

‎After Spurs’ 1-0 victory at Palace on Sunday, in which Johnson entered as an 85th-minute substitute, Frank maintained that Johnson is an important member of his squad.

‎“I think Brennan is very important for us,” the Dane said.

‎ “Maybe he didn’t get many minutes, but unfortunately, we can only play 11 players.

‎“We spoke about it before with Mo [Kudus], who has come in and put his stamp on that right-winger position. Then, on the left, we tried different solutions. I think Brennan is an important player for us.”
