Bukayo Saka Set For New Arsenal Contract Talks Following Injury Return
New Arsenal sporting director, Andrea Berta, is set to intensify discussions regarding a new contract for winger Bukayo Saka, according to reports.
The Gunners brought Berta on board at the end of last month and have assigned the Italian transfer expert with the responsibility of shaping their strategy for the upcoming summer transfer window.
However, several contract issues require prompt attention.
Bukayo Saka is one of several players approaching the final two years of their contracts at Arsenal.
The club is keen to offer him a new deal promptly to avoid any unnecessary speculation about his future.
This proactive approach comes after having to fend off interest from Manchester City ahead of his last extension in 2023.
Fabrizio Romano adds that Saka and his representatives are set for talks with Berta over his future to try and thrash out an extension.
There is no immediate rush to finalize an extension for Saka, but clubs are often reluctant to let their best players enter the final two years of their contracts amid fears they could be swayed to let their deals expire and depart on a free transfer.
Centre-back duo William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, like Saka, are both out of contract in 2027.
The Frenchman has recently been linked with a move to Manchester City, in addition to long-standing interest from Real Madrid.
However, he publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the Gunners in March.
Meanwhile, Saka is due to return to action in Tuesday’s Premier League clash with Fulham after spending over three months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
