Champions League: Bayern’s Luis Díaz Receives Three-Match Ban For Tackle On Hakimi

‎Bayern Munich’s Luis Díaz has been handed a three-match suspension for serious rough play following his red card in the 2-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain.

‎The decision was announced on Friday by UEFA. Díaz had scored both goals in Paris before being dismissed for a violent tackle on Achraf Hakimi just before halftime.

‎PSG confirmed a day later that Hakimi had severely sprained his left ankle, and the Moroccan full-back has not played for the Ligue 1 club since.

‎Hakimi claimed the African Footballer of the Year award on Wednesday, limping onto the stage and moving about on a scooter. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany had expected Diaz to miss only the trip to Arsenal on Wednesday.

‎However, the Colombian winger will also miss home fixtures against Sporting on December 9 and Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21.

‎”My information is that he’s suspended for one game… I would be disappointed if my information is not correct,” Kompany told reporters earlier on Friday.

‎Bayern Munich leads the Champions League standings with 12 points from four matches, one of three teams still unbeaten, alongside their upcoming opponents Arsenal and Inter Milan.
