‎Chelsea’s Ukrainian forward, Mykhaylo Mudryk, has been formally charged with doping by the Football Association (FA) and could face a suspension of up to four years.

‎He tested positive for the substance meldonium at the end of last year.

‎According to The Telegraph, the banned substance in question could result in a suspension of up to four years. Both Mykhaylo Mudryk and Chelsea are currently awaiting the results of the B test. Meanwhile, the FA has confirmed the news to the media outlet.

‎”We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations.

‎”As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time,” a spokesperson told The Telegraph.

‎As recently as December last year, following the test results, Mudryk reacted via social media.

‎”I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to the FA contained a banned substance. This came as a complete shock, as I have never intentionally used any banned substance or broken any rules, and I am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened.

‎”I know I’ve done nothing wrong, and I remain hopeful that I’ll be back on the pitch soon. I can’t say any more right now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will as soon as I can,” Mudryk wrote on Instagram.

‎Mykhaylo Mudryk has enlisted Morgan Sports Law to represent him in his case, with Chelsea offering legal support. The firm previously handled Paul Pogba’s doping appeal, which resulted in his suspension being reduced from four years to 18 months.

‎Mudryk and Chelsea are currently awaiting further developments in the case.

‎Pogba has terminated his contract with Juventus and is looking for a new club, having been strongly linked with Monaco during this summer’s market.

‎Mudryk’s last game was against Heidenheim in the Conference League on November 28th. Since then, he was listed as ‘injured’ until December, when he learnt the result of the test.
