Claudio Ranieri Reportedly Agrees To Become New Roma Head Coach
At the age of 73, Claudio Ranieri is reportedly poised to return to the sidelines, with media sources indicating that he will soon be announced as the new head coach of AS Roma.
He is set to replace Ivan Juric, who was dismissed from his position last Sunday.
According to media reports, Ranieri and the club have reached an agreement already. Previously, former Dortmund coach Edin Terzic had also been mentioned as a candidate in the Eternal City along with Roberto Mancini.
Roma have struggled recently, losing four out of their last five league matches, and currently sitting in twelfth place with just 13 points, well below expectations for the season.
Ivan Juric, who took over as head coach from Daniele De Rossi in mid-September, has not been able to achieve the desired results.
Ranieri will be stepping out of retirement for the role. The Rome-born coach had declared his coaching career over after last season but is now set to return to the capital club for a third time.
Ranieri previously managed the three-time champions from 2009 to 2011 and again at the end of the 2018/19 season.
He achieved the pinnacle of his coaching career in England, where he famously led Leicester City to a stunning Premier League title in 2016.
