Cole Palmer Equals Chelsea Record With Assist In Draw Against Crystal Palace
Cole Palmer equaled a new Chelsea record during Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Crystal Palace.
Since joining the Blues in the summer of 2023 from Manchester for £42.5 million, Palmer has experienced an impressive rise in his career.
In his first season at the club, Palmer remarkably broke Eden Hazard’s Chelsea record for the most goals and assists in a single Premier League campaign.
Last season, Palmer scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists in 34 Premier League matches, and he’s already made an impressive start to the new 2024-25 season.
Across his first two matches, Palmer produced one goal and three assists, and he’s now followed that up with a fourth assist in his third match against Palace.
Palmer was heavily involved in Chelsea’s first goal as his pass left Nicolas Jackson with the simple task of tapping home to give the Blues the lead in west London.
It means that Palmer has four assists in his first three Premier League matches of the season, which has seen him equal a record held by two former Chelsea stars.
Only Hazard (2012-13) and Cesc Fabregas (2014-15) have achieved that feat before, with Palmer writing himself into even more Chelsea history.
Marc Guehi loses possession, and Chelsea quickly moves the ball to Noni Madueke. Madueke passes it to Palmer, who sets up Jackson for an easy finish at the back post.
Chelsea was unable to secure three points in the end after Eberechi Eze leveled up the match in the second half, with the Eagles hanging on to secure a draw.
The Blues are back in action on September 14 when they face a trip to the south coast to take on AFC Bournemouth.
