Colombia knocked out Uruguay from the 2024 Copa America despite playing the entire second half with one player down.

Sportxparte reports that from the start of the 2024 Copa America, Uruguay was the clear favourite to win, a position they held until their semi-final match against the unexpected underdog, Colombia, on July 10.

At the Bank of America Stadium in North Carolina, the United States, the first goal of the game was scored by Jefferson Lerma in a nail-biting 39th minute, adding a thrilling twist to the match.

Larma, a player from the English Premier League club, Crystal Palace, scored the goal with a header from a corner kick by James Rodriguez.

As the game progressed, Colombia faced what was anticipated to be a significant blow when Daniel Munoz was sent off for a second yellow card for elbowing Manuel Ugarte, leaving the audience anxious about the team’s fate.

Despite losing a player in the second half, Colombia managed to maintain a narrow lead throughout the match.

If not for the goal, Luis Suarez from Uruguay could have scored an equalizer for his team.

With a 1-0 victory over Uruguay, Colombia will compete in the Copa America final against Argentina at 1 a.m. (WAT) on Monday, July 15.

Uruguay, on the other hand, still has a chance to secure a medal as they will play in the third-place match simultaneously.
