‎Former Liverpool and Chelsea women’s manager Matt Beard died by suicide, a coroner’s court in Ruthin, North Wales confirmed on Monday.

‎The hearing was adjourned, with a full inquest scheduled for a later date, according to the BBC.

‎Beard, who was 47, passed away in the hospital on September 20 after paramedics were called to his home. A minute’s silence was observed across all Women’s Super League matches on September 21 in his memory.

‎He enjoyed a distinguished career in women’s football, leading Liverpool to back-to-back WSL titles in 2013 and 2014 before returning to the club in 2021 to guide them back into the top flight.
