Everton’s recent points deduction for breaching Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) has raised concerns about their potential relegation from the Premier League. However, midfielder Dele Alli expressed confidence that the team can avoid relegation by staying focused on their performance on the pitch.

This season, Everton has faced two charges for PSR violations and has been docked a total of eight points. They announced on Monday that they have appealed against a two-point deduction imposed on April 8.

Currently, Sean Dyche’s team is in 16th place in the table with 27 points, holding a two-point lead over Luton Town, who are in the final relegation position, following a 6-0 defeat to Chelsea on Monday.

“We can only focus on the games – we can’t get caught up in what’s going on,” Alli told Sky Sports. “They’ve done an unbelievable job. I can feel it when I walk around the place – a real focus and not getting caught up in everything that’s going on.

He continued, “They’re an unbelievable group of players and I hope they’ll finish the season strong. The chances they create, they can win most games. I think they’ll be fine.”

Despite not having played since February 2023 due to injury, Alli opened up in an interview last year about his experiences with childhood sexual abuse, mental health challenges, and undergoing rehabilitation.

With 37 appearances for England under his belt, the midfielder expressed his goal of making a comeback to Gareth Southgate’s squad.

“I have a reminder on my phone every day at 11 o’clock that says World Cup 2026,” he added. “That’s my aim.”
