Eddie Howe Confirms Alexander Isak Sidelined As Future Remains Uncertain
Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe, addressed Alexander Isak’s unsettled situation, noting he cannot currently take part with the squad.
The 25-year-old reportedly remains unhappy at St James’ Park. He is said to be pushing for a move to Premier League leaders Liverpool.
Newcastle recently rejected a bid from Liverpool worth a reported £120 million, £30 million less than their asking price for the Sweden international.
With speculation about his future running high, Isak has been working out on his own as Newcastle gets ready for the 2025-26 season.
Asked about Isak’s role at the club after their 2-2 pre-season draw with Espanyol, Howe stayed confident.
“We’ve had discussions and it’s clear at the moment we can’t involve him with the group,” Howe responded.
“I don’t know how long that will be for. That’s the latest.
“I’d rather leave it with that line. Discussions between us must remain private but I can’t involve him with the team at the moment.
“He’s here, of course, he has a future at Newcastle, and from our perspective, everyone at the club would like to see him back with the team. But the situation has to be right for that to happen.”
